Quiz in physics and general knowledge about Nikola Tesla opened in orgnization of the Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the Future

  On March 10, 2015 the first testing of about 80 primary and secondary school pupils and university students from Croatia opened the Quiz in physics and general knowledge about Nikola Tesla at the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb.

The Quiz is the one of the three categories for this year Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future annual award. The best nine candidates, three of each group – primary schools, secondary schools and universities – will attend the final testing that will be held on April 2 at the Faculty of Textile Technology. The nominees for the annual award will be known after the final testing.

Mr Toni Milun, mathematician, Ms Sandra Bischof, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technology, Mr Don Hudspet, Dean at the RIT Croatia, Mr Don Markušić, Vice-President of Transparency International and Mr Marko Bubaš, President of the Union of Croatian Innovators approached pupils and students and spoke about the importance of creativity and innovative spirit in education and society. Mr Velimir Abramović from Belgrade approached them as well and presented the international initiative for digitization and public announcement of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Museum Archives. The musicians Mr Milko Pravdić, professor at Zagreb Music Academy and Mr Rude Mimica, member of Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra performed Bach's Two Part Invention during the opening ceremony.


Ms Dragica Mihajlović, President of the Nikola Tesla Association – Genius for the Future emphasized in her speech that owing to the Quiz the interest of young people in Tesla and his work is much bigger. When we launcehd the project, we could hardly find a pupil or a student who knew five Tesla's inventions“, and added that the purpose of the Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future annual award was to recognize young talents. As examples, she named Tino Herljević, a young innovator, winner of three annual awards and RIT scholarship holder, and Sara Cepić, student at the High School Sesvete, the Quiz 2014 winner. Sara Cepić said at the Quiz opening that her participation at the Competition was the valuable experience which inspired her to continue education in the field of science.

Many professors and distinguised persons were present at the opening ceremony, among the others, Ms Ana Panđa Kunčević, representative of the City of Zagreb, Mr Juraj Bahnik, President of Češka beseda in Zagreb, Mr Tomislav Petković, professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and Mr Renato Filipin, Senior Curator at the Technical Museum in Zagreb.
