Tesla & Friends” – a three-day manifestation organized by the Nikola Tesla Association took place from July 9-11, 2015 with the purpose of celebrating the Nikola Tesla Day of Science, Technology and Innovation and the 159th Anniversary of his birth.
This manifestation commenced on July 9 with the traditional celebration and yearly award ceremony of Nikola Tesla – Genius for the Future award at Hotel Esplanade in Zagreb.
During this celebration, Mr. Davor Bernardić, as Envoy of the President of the Croatian Parliament Mr. Milan Bandić, Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Mr.Ivan Pejič, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports, Mr. Miroslav Kolatek, Deputy Director of the Czech Embassy in Croatia, Ms. Mirela Holy, Member of Croatian Parliament, Mrs. Andrea Doko Jelušić, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia and Ms Dragica Mihajlović, President of the Nikola Tesla Association-Genius for the Future, greeted the guests at the ceremony in the Esplanade Hotel.
Within the programme, Nikola Tesla annual awards were granted in three categries. Sara Cepić, a high-school student from Sesvete, received also this year the award in Physics and General Knowledge Quiz about Tesla. In the category of Creative and Innovative Product inspired by Tesla's inventions, the young inovator Ivan Kožar from Ivanić Grad got the award for the wireles phone charger. In the category of Tesla's Extended Activities was awarded young innovator Tin Biršić from Ivanić Grad for project Cloud Security System.
The program included two short panel discussions.Prof.dr.sc. Mladen Martinis, prof.dr.sc. Slobodan Mizdrak i prof.dr.sc. Stanko Popović spoke about Tesla in medicine. Two students of secondary school Sara Cepic and Ivan Kozar and two scolars of elementary school Nikolina Špilek and Brgur Brenčić spoke about Tesla as a model for their inspiration.
Laying flowers on monument of Nikola Tesla in Zagreb followed on the 10th of July.The conference with subject Tesla in medicine was held in Croatian chamber of commerce. In the evening hours Mr stefan Milenković will perform on violin, Mateja Meštrović on piano and the Samobor orchestra Sudar Percussion.
On Saturday, 11th of July, Mr. Renato Filipin, Senior Curator gave a lecture with live demonstration at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla.
