The 161th anniversary of Tesla's birth and the Nikola Tesla Day commemorated in ZagrebThe three-day event Tesla & friends: the days of science, technology and innovation, was organized in Zagreb by the Association of Nikola Tesla - Genius for the Future to commemorate the 161 th anniversary of birth of the national great and the world genius Nikola Tesla. Tesla's achievements were celebrated by lectures, panel discussions and artistic performances, and by laying flowers to the Tesla’s monument. The manifestation was open by the concert of cellist Ana Rucner, followed by the lecture at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla, and by the award of the Nikola Tesla annual prize - Genius for the Future. The last day of the manifestation, the Croatian inventive entrepreneurs shared their business experience and tips. The manifestation was closed by the performance Tesla Anonymous at the theater Gavella, directed by Filip Šovagović.
At Esplanade Zagreb Hotel on July 10 th, which commemorated the 161 th anniversary of Nikola Tesla’s birth, was run the solemn ceremony of the annual award Nikola Tesla - Genius for the Future, which marked the Day of Nikola Tesla: the day of science, technology and innovation.
The guests were welcomed by Ms. Vesna Bedeković, the Croatian Parliament Speaker, Ms. Jelena Pavičić Vukičević, the envoy of the Deputy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Mr. Davor Bernardić, the Parliamentary Representative and the President of the Social Democrat Party. The guests included representatives of the scientific and social life in Croatia: Mr. Ivo Josipović, former President of the Republic of Croatia, Ms. Andrea Doko- Jelušić, the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Croatia, PhD Sandra Bischof, the Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb, Mr.Ivan Bračić, the President of Croatian Innovation Association and Ms. Dragica Mihajlović, the President of the Association Nikola Tesla - Genius for the future as well as the US and India ambassadors and representatives of other embassies.

The annual award Nikola Tesla - Genius for the Future this year is awarded in three categories for the eighth consecutive year. In the category of the Quiz of Physics and General Knowledge on the Nikola Tesla Award, the winner was Jan Pršle, a pupil of the Zagreb’s Primary School Dragutin Domjanić. In the category of Creative and Innovative Products and Souvenirs Inspired by Tesla's Inventions, the young innovator from Požega Zlatko Dražić received the award for the project "Remote Control Mower", while the Tesla Environmental Protection Award received the "Smart Club" project, done by 21 year old Ivana Mrvoša of Solin.
Two short experts’ panel discussions were held within the framework of the program. The first one “Inspired by Tesla: Contributing and Discovering New Technologies to Stop Climate Change and Environmental Protection", was discussed by PhD Professor Velimir Abramović, PhD Marin Vuković, PhD Ivan Šimatović and Đuro Horvat, a founder and owner of Tehnix d.o.o. , while students of Zagrebs’ schools and faculties Ivan Pražetina, Filip Gojković, Matilda Prekpaljaj and Jan Pršle participated in the panel discussion titled "Inspired by Tesla". During the event, two compositions of this year's Tesla birthday, the Beyond Visible by Romana Sole and the Night Butterfly Life by Ljerka Končar-Gamulin and Zrinka Čupić were also performed.
Traditionally on July 10 th flowers were laid to the monument of Nikola Tesla in Zagreb, by the delegation of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb Duško Ljuština, Ms. Dragica Mihajlović, the President of the Association Nikola Tesla and PhD Professor Karolj Skala from the Ruđer Bošković Institute. On that occasion, the traditional performance of the white dove as the symbol of Nikola Tesla and Tesla's messages was performed.

On the last day of the event was held the Tesla conference. That was a panel discussion and lectures on "Tesla in science and application of Tesla's inventions". The panel discussion was moderated by Mirela Holy, while participants included PhDProfessor Mladen Martinis, Ph.D. Ivan Šimatović, PhDProfessor Velimir Abramović and PhD Marin Vuković. The lectures were held by entrepreneurs and innovators Đuro Horvat, the founder and CEO of Tehnix d.o.o. and Tomislav Boško, director of DOK-ING Automotiv d.o.o.
