Gandhi statue unveiled in Zagreb

The first of its kind in Croatia, the statue of the world-famous social activist and humanitarian, Mahatma Gandhi, was unveiled at the Bundek Lake in Zagreb at the 150th anniversary of his birthday. The event was organized by the Indian Embassy in the Republic of Croatia, a partner of the Nikola Tesla- Genius for the Future Association whose representatives were given the honor of participating in the event. The statue was unveiled by the Indian ambassador, his excellency Arindam Bagchi, the prime minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković and the mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić. The bronze statue is a gift from the Embassy of India as a symbol of good relations between the two countries. It was made by Ram Vanaji Sutar, a well-known Indian sculptor.

The United Nations have declared Gandhi`s birthday, the 2nd of October, the International Dy of Non-Violence to honor his politics of using peaceful ways to handle conflicts. Mahatma Gandhi was a person of influence who set an example of dedicating one`s life to peace and the wellbeing of others.

„Be the change you wish to see in the world. “

„No culture can live, if it attempts to be exclusive. “

These are one of the most important messages Gandhi gifted the world with. What would the world be like if his teachings were upheld? Great men like Gandhi and Nikola Tesla were way ahead of their time, maybe today, mankind can finally catch up.
